SY26 SKYLINE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Teacher Professional Learning. Teachers are provided with comprehensive support when launching the Skyline curriculum through asynchronous and in-person sessions, as well as ongoing offerings to sustain and deepen successful implementation.
  • Skyline Essentials Badges: Asynchronous self-paced professional learning essential for those who are implementing and/or supporting the implementation of Skyline. Badges can be found here. Teachers earn 1 ISBE credit hour for each completed badge. As of April 1, 2025, compensation is not available for badge completion.  
  • Skyline 101s: In-person, day-long sessions that prepare teachers and leaders for successful implementation of Skyline. Sessions will run June 16, 2025 through the summer.
  • Ongoing Support: Throughout the school year, CPS content specialists provide ongoing professional learning opportunities tailored to both newly implementing teachers and more experienced users of the curriculum.

School Leader and Network Leader Professional Learning. School leaders and network leaders have access to professional learning that helps them apply high-leverage leadership practices that are especially impactful for implementation of HQ curriculum. 

  • Leading Implementation of the Skyline Curriculum: This in-person, day-long launch session is for school leaders, school-based coaches, and network/district coaches who support schools with curriculum implementation. Leaders will leave the session prepared to implement high-leverage leadership and coaching practices that matter most for successful curriculum implementation. Sessions will run May 27, 2025 through the summer.

  • Ongoing Support: Throughout the school year, the CPS professional learning team provides ongoing opportunities for school and network leaders to strengthen their leadership of Skyline curriculum implementation.

Payment / ISBE Credit Hours

  • Teachers will receive ISBE Hours for each Skyline Essentials badge completed. As of April 1, 2025, no compensation will be provided for completion of Skyline Essentials badges. Teachers will receive ISBE Hours for attending PL sessions. Eligibile staff will also be compensated at the non-instructional rate per hour for their attendance at Skyline PL sessions that occur outside of regularly contracted hours. Teachers must be fully contracted and onboarded at the time of the session, attend the full duration of the session, and complete the attendance/exit slip form to receive payment and ISBE Hours. Evaluating Social Media Sources in Social Science Classrooms Amid Constant and Challenging News Cycles
Wednesday February 25, 2026 9:00am - 3:30pm CST
In the present moment, civic engagement requires knowing how to evaluate TikTok videos and Instagram posts about evolving local, national, and global events. Facilitated by the Digital Inquiry Group (formerly the Stanford History Education Group), at this session participants will consider how to integrate digital literacy into social science classrooms and explore free, research-backed curricular resources. This initial in-person session on February 25th will be followed by optional Zoom-based sessions in which participants will have opportunities to explore resources in more detail.

Breakfast & Lunch will be provided.

- Full-day in-person professional learning session
- Funds are available for substitutes.
- Although available materials are designed for middle school and high school classrooms, all social science teachers are welcome to attend.

Discover the Power of i-Ready Growth Monitoring

In this session, participants will learn the purpose and structure of Growth Monitoring assessments in mathematics and how these quick checks inform instructional decisions. Educators will practice reading and interpreting Growth Monitoring data to identify trends, monitor progress, and plan next steps. Participants will apply these insights to develop actionable strategies that strengthen math instruction for all students.

SGP Insights: From Measuring Growth to Driving Achievement

In this session, participants will deepen their understanding of student growth percentile (SGP) within Star. We will discuss the difference between achievement (percentile rank) and growth (SGP), discuss multiple student examples utilizing the Tier 1 Data Analysis Protocol, and examine the Star Growth Report and Growth Proficiency Chart. Participants will have dedicated work time to run each report and begin analyzing growth from BOY to MOY to inform instructional decisions.

DESSA- Digging Deeper and Case Studies

Participants will explore how Behavioral Health Teams, Teachers, and Counselors can utilize DESSA-Diagnostic data along with other key student metrics (including the SRSS-IE, BAG data, and interventions assessments), to develop, monitor, and adjust student support plans. Participants will apply learning to practice scenarios and case studies and will consider how the DESSA Diagnostic can enhance student SEL and Behavioral Health across tiers.
