SY26 SKYLINE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Teacher Professional Learning. Teachers are provided with comprehensive support when launching the Skyline curriculum through asynchronous and in-person sessions, as well as ongoing offerings to sustain and deepen successful implementation.
  • Skyline Essentials Badges: Asynchronous self-paced professional learning essential for those who are implementing and/or supporting the implementation of Skyline. Badges can be found here. Teachers earn 1 ISBE credit hour for each completed badge. As of April 1, 2025, compensation is not available for badge completion.  
  • Skyline 101s: In-person, day-long sessions that prepare teachers and leaders for successful implementation of Skyline. Sessions will run June 16, 2025 through the summer.
  • Ongoing Support: Throughout the school year, CPS content specialists provide ongoing professional learning opportunities tailored to both newly implementing teachers and more experienced users of the curriculum.

School Leader and Network Leader Professional Learning. School leaders and network leaders have access to professional learning that helps them apply high-leverage leadership practices that are especially impactful for implementation of HQ curriculum. 

  • Leading Implementation of the Skyline Curriculum: This in-person, day-long launch session is for school leaders, school-based coaches, and network/district coaches who support schools with curriculum implementation. Leaders will leave the session prepared to implement high-leverage leadership and coaching practices that matter most for successful curriculum implementation. Sessions will run May 27, 2025 through the summer.

  • Ongoing Support: Throughout the school year, the CPS professional learning team provides ongoing opportunities for school and network leaders to strengthen their leadership of Skyline curriculum implementation.

Payment / ISBE Credit Hours

  • Teachers will receive ISBE Hours for each Skyline Essentials badge completed. As of April 1, 2025, no compensation will be provided for completion of Skyline Essentials badges. Teachers will receive ISBE Hours for attending PL sessions. Eligibile staff will also be compensated at the non-instructional rate per hour for their attendance at Skyline PL sessions that occur outside of regularly contracted hours. Teachers must be fully contracted and onboarded at the time of the session, attend the full duration of the session, and complete the attendance/exit slip form to receive payment and ISBE Hours. Student Annual Needs Determination Inventory (SANDI) Administrator-Master Trainer Series (Part 2)

This 90 minutes session will emphasize English Language Arts, and take a deep dive into analyzing the current Fall SANDI assessment window data, including identifying and documenting progress toward flagged IEP goals, writing Present Level of Performance based on current data scores, flagging next best IEP goal target based on student need area data for a new IEP, and aligning that need area to a state standard/ELA strand. Participants will see multiple examples of writing standards-based IEP goals using SANDI data and experience how SANDI data guides and supports educators to write and implement legally defensible IEPs.

Basic Water Rescue

SECAs assigned to students in aquatic programming are required to have the Basic Water Rescue Certification. This course provides the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to many aquatic emergencies. This training is held in the pool's shallow end and only requires SECAs to go chest-deep.
